Learning outcomes

The student should after the course be able to

- state and exemplify how sport is organised and financed in different national contexts, and recognise advantages and disadvantages of these ways of orginsing and financing sport, and
- conduct a well-founded discussion on and exemplify how cultural, geographic, economic, and political factors specific to different national sporting contexts affect and shape sport and sport management.

Content

The aim of the course is for students to gain insight into how different countries organise and finance sport and how sport management is shaped by differences in culture, geography, economy, and politics. The course entails several digital lectures that experts and researchers from different countries provide. Building on these inputs, national differences will be analysed and explained, and students will reflect on the frames the different national contexts set for sport management. Students will also work with a specific sport management related case in one chosen country.

For courses included in an international master’s programme (60 or 120 credits) or offered to the university’s incoming exchange students, the A to F grading scale is to be used.
